AI troubles

Apologies if this was brought up already, but does anyone else have certain races (even warmongling!) not building up military at all? Thalans, for example, only have a couple of 0 attack and defense defenders in orbit by mid game...  occasionally same behavior is seen with Krynn. Drath and Korx also don't build a single military unit save a gazillion of troop transports they don't even send out :/. Occasionally Altarians do the same, though they did behave well a couple of games. Korath just build a ton of constructors that simply sit in space, though they do occasionally build up military too, though not very effective due to the fact they don't bother to colonize nearby planets...

This is for many medium to large maps, challanging to painful difficulty, mostly slow research setting, though I did play on normal and fast with pretty much same results :(.

I wonder if it's something on my side? I've a couple of mods installed: HGRmod 2, Kryo Hulls for TA, AF_Ronin ship packs and general pants' political party proliferation along with a couple of custom logos and portraits. Nothing there should mess with the game really... so what gives?

ToA 1.96 or an earlier version?

I had something like that on 1.92 (?) where the Korx generally refused to build any warships, but in my 2 v1.96 games I had no issues with any race so far and they behave reasonably "intelligent"

Just for fun, try playing w/o those mods and see if there is this issue. It's best to remove anything non-stock from the game when trying to find solutions to bugs.

If the game runs fine w/o mods, start turning them on one by one and see when the issue re-arises.
