TRADING CRASH

help needed!

I'm running the game on an hp entertainment laptop with windows vista. I do not currently have the expansion packs.

Every time I send a freighter to a planet, it tells me I've established trade, and a white bar appears across the to of the screen. then it disappears, I get another message regarding trade, (not an error message,) then the the turn button disappears, and the game is frozen. All I can do is hit the start button on my keyboard and close the game once it's minimized.

will expansion packs or patches fix the game?

Quite possibly. If you're running an old retail copy unupdated, you should definitely get Impulse from the downloads page and update the game to see if that helps.

hmmm... downloaded impulse but no updates were available, is there another place patches are available I should try?

Odd, what version of the game do you have, then, exactly? Impulse has the very latest.

I downloaded galactic civilizations II without the expansions from stardock maybe 2 weeks ago. not gold edition or anything like that, just the base game.

That'll be the latest, then.

If your turn button is just disappearing, you may want to cycle through all of your ships and make sure that none of them have moves remaining, as that's the usual problem in such cases.
