here is something this game is missing

I think that this game has a small hole in it.  The concept of tourists is in the game.  But there are no tourist traps like disney land.

What I mean is it nice to visit utah wyoming but much nicer to visit disney land.  Yes I know about the moral buildings but in the game those are for the locals.

What about the various Influence buildings? They help increase your ZOC and thus tourism...

The Korath are just better at telling people they are the coolest kid on the block with their Dark Influence buildings. With the new and improved MCC they can even instantly convince people that the Aul Incinerator is a playground :)

Yeah, I thought the influence buildings and influence starbases already do all that. Plus the influence special buildings / wonders.

The Temple of Neutrality is sort of a tourist trap; at least the description says it "diverts a percentage" of other civs' tourism revenue to you.

Ok I will take that one but where are the 8 wonders of the universe. I was reminded today about these on fox news.

Yea but again these are for locals. Except the influence base which is trying to peacefully to take over a planet or two.

Influence buildings increase your overall galactic influence which in turn draws in more tourists. And the game already has the galactic achievement "Restaurant at the end of the Universe" which gives a 20% influence bonus and hence draws in tourists from around the galaxy.

Are you criticising this game for not including Disneyland? Perhaps you should play Rollercoaster Tycoon.

War Profiteering. Tourism income generally is worth more. Trade income for certain races is higher.

The tightening of the economy was IMO intended and works quite well. Still, take Torian super breeders and you almost need no taxes at all to generate income.

This might be. But I would like some optional income sources.

A tricky modulus if there's ever one, Daniel.

What i get from carefully monitoring econo variables, i can always counter_affect by simply focusing on other indirect ways to compensate the **Feeling** of wrong handles on multiple things; namely, spending too much may just be a true tourist trap (as it was described earlier) as far as getting some advantages but it also means improper lagging in income should always put anyone out of the loop.

Now the question is, where does such loop begins or ends?
Near reaching a Victory condition or somewhere along the way?

Then, that's what real financial advisors would probably suggest; put one egg in a basket and if you don't eat it soon enough - it will rotten eventually.

Tourism income is money - to spend - wisely. Even when high or too low.

right and when I have about 10 huge ships and taxes maxed out and about 20 small ships and I am still in the red then what. For some reason I can't get my income above about 2000 per turn of course I can't have any combat ships and must have at least 3 trade treaties to do that.

I have even stopped building research buildings except special spaces to leave room for more income buildings and or farms.

Then, frankly, you're doing something wrong. I usually have much larger fleets, no treaties or trade routes at all, full planets, taxes hardly over 39%, full production and am still making a profit.

Also, remember the game isn't about having the most money. It's about being the last one standing.

Republic, Democracy! Giving maximum focus to idled "potential" on some planets. Stopping maintenance spendings on "extra costly" fleets - if unused. Many (not one only) ECONOMIC starbases fully developped and exploiting the multiple enhanced module(s) asap (That can give a huge boost to productive core systems).
Plus one or two fully dedicated Money making planets with loads of econo stuff - sometimes, can switch the global values in your favor.

Considering the VERY high number of other factors involved also though.

I've always thought that a civilization at war should experience a slow drop in tourism income. IT makes no sense to me that races (besides the Korath ^^) would vacation in a war zone!

The korath and drengin should be drawn to a war zone maybe the minor robot race.
