Buying Dark Avatar

By Posted June 10, 2008 15:05:19
I am trying to find a store that is selling the dark avatar expantion disk but I can't find one. Does anyone know of a store that still sells it?
Also I was wondering, just in case it is not on shelves anymore, Is it possible for me to download the game and burn it onto my own disk to save on shipping?
Thanks for the help

I don't think DA got to shelves, I know TA didn't have any plans on it.

If you can install SDC on a machine, purchase/download/install the game, you can then archive it (SDC tool), burn it to CD-DVD/put to thumb drive and then bring it to another machine to unarchive it.

There is no DA-only retail box, though there is GC2 Gold which has both DL and DA in it if you can't order online. If you can order online, you can do so via the Purchase link at the left and just download the game.

The only game that can be found in stores is Dread Lords. They are calling it Game of the Year edition. It doesn't make sense that there will be no Dark Avatar expansioin pack - unless they combine it with Twilight of the Arnor. The only place you can buy either expansion - that I have found - is this website. I suspect after they've made enough money selling the GOY edition and the two expansions, on this website only, they will release the two expansions to stores.

I think its lame, but I'm sure their marketing and sales geniuses are going to squeeze every bit of profit from it that they can at the consumers' expense.

I seem to remember a discussion similar to this before Ta launched. IIRC, it wasn't that Stardock didn't want the expansions in stores, it's that the major retailers weren't particularly interested in carrying them. Something about EB being willing to sell it, but only as an exclusive, or some such bullshit.

As I said, DA is available as part of GC2 Gold, which was released to retail last year when DA came out. Twilight however is not currently planned to go to retail in any form.

I'd say taking the (rather considerable) amounts of budget that would go towards marketing, manufacturing, etc, for a retail release and putting them into the game itself--resulting directly in more and better features--is hardly such as you describe.
