Firefox 3 Release & Stardock Site Compatibility
Jul 30, 2008 12:59

Firefox 3.0 goes final and is scheduled for release on Tuesday, June 17th.

There are currently known incompatibilities between Firefox 3 and many of our sites and forums. For the most part, the sites function properly, but have formatting issues. A specific example are the login & password fields to log into these forums. In Firefox 3, instead of both being on the same line, they are stacked vertically.

We will be addressing these visual issues in time. Please do NOT post threads on the forums pointing out Firefox 3 site issues. They will be deleted. We are aware of the problems and will work as quickly as we can to resolve them.

Until posted otherwise, the only version of Firefox our sites support at the moment is Firefox 2.

Help please: How do you see a starbase's range of effect?

Hey all,

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm at my wits end regarding starbases.

In Galciv 2 Dread Lords, there was a simple blue overlay showing the radius that a starbase effects. For example, for an economic starbase, the planet in question had to be within that radius to receive the economic bonus. At least, that's how I understand these radii.

However in Galciv 2 Dark Avatar, there is no visual range indicator. Granted, it tells you the range (something like 0.3 sectors) but that doesn't help when I want to simply look at the starbase and see if it's affecting the planet near it or not.

So: How do you see the radius that a starbase affects in Dark Avatar? Or does it affect the whole map now?

If not, how do I see a visual radius rather than just the text "0.3 sectors", with no notion of how big of a radius that is?

Thanks!

Hi!
in Galciv 2 Dark Avatar, there is no visual range indicator

I see the area in my version of DA (1.8g). It was also never disabled. So it seems you have a problem with your comp. Have you updated the game and drivers?

In DA and TA, there should be a pretty obvious area delimited by a moving dashed line--it's much more visible than in DL. If you're not seeing that, there's something wrong (or you picked black as your race's color).

On my end of things, this 'feature' is not really that obvious.

- Influence Starbases do have a semi-transparent variable overlays (per race colors) which indicates what radius they get.
- Economic bases too.
- When traveling constructors are selected, the "moving dashed lines" appear but as soon as a starbase gets built, this radius disappears.

- Other than the above three occasions, i don't have anything else to indicate other radius for bases built on rare resources.

- Ascension crystals bases once clicked also show this circle as semi-white colorings.

I have to wonder if options such as the 'show ship paths' or 'traders routes' has any influence on the interface behavior where common features get tied up in a general setting - but excluded for mining resources.

Ok, I figured out more details on what the problem is.

So you know, I have all the latest drivers and the game is fully updated.

When I build a starbase not on a resource (like, a regular economic starbase for example) I can see a radius like you said no problem.

However, when I build on a resource (say, the Military, Influence or Economy resource) I get no radius. There is no dotted moving line or colored perimeter.

Does this mean that mining starbases affect your entire civilization, or is it a bug?

Thank you!

Well, mining starbases DO affect your entire civ, that part is true. Is your race color set as black, or some other color similar to the space behind it?

No. I am currently playing on the campaign, and my color as Drengin is red. As I mentioned though with regular starbases I DO see a moving dotted red line.

If mining starbases affect your entire civ though, I guess that explains why they don't have a radius.

Later!

Resource starbases don't have an AoE. The mined bonus is global.
