Question on what this Event is

tried looking for it elsewhere and didn't see it

I got an Event that I've never seen before. I didn't screencap it or write it down so it's not exact. But it goes something like this:
The Arceans have discovered a new technology that will allow then to conquer the galaxy. It grows more powerful each day so we should take them out before they can use it.
Nothing ever happened from this and the game ended with a Influence win for me about 24 turns later. Could someone explain this to me?

I've seen this event quite a bit. Its bark is worse than its bite and you can pretty much ignore it. What it does is progressively increase ability bonuses for the benefactor, but the rate is actually pretty slow. Unless you're playing a very long game, it's not going to have a big impact on its progression.

Hi!
I've seen this event quite a bit.
End of quote

AFAIK there are TWO events of that type - the slow one you've mentioned, and the fast one, where the AI gets increases in every field each turn. Needles to say, if you're not in an already-won position, the fast one needs to be dealt with yesterday.

I make it my policy to eliminate the race that gets it asap just to be safe. Not like I was gonna let them survive anyway...

Yeah, normally when I play, I take to the strategy of "live and let live" untill something either threatens my civ or I know I can crush everyone. In a case like this, Ill bribe everyone I can to start a war with the effected civ, then join in and take as many planets as I can.

There's something about letting the others do the dirty work of destroying all the enemy ships, only to have me sweep in and claim a rich, juicy planet for myself without immediately being put on their bad side that bring an evil, evil grin to my face... >:]
