Has the DA AI been lobotimized again?

Just updated to xxx, and am having another easy game. I say another because the previous game, the AIs just flopped. (version or 2 back)

That game was pathetic. Pirates showed up, wiped everything out, and the 2 remaining AIs surrendered to me.

My current game, at maso like the last, is not shaping out to be any fun either. The AIs are just not doing anything. Has the DA AI been crippled again?

Perhaps even more annoying, is that fleets with this version will not auto pilot more than 1 week away. IE, click on other side of map, and the fleet doesn't register it. (Actually changes base moves to zero)

Is everyone too busy with the expansion to bother with DA?

Make sure you check the difficulty settings of the AIs in the foreign relations->stats window. It's not inconcievable that the AI are gimped because they have so few abilities by comparison to the player.

Thanks. That makes things better. But still, the AIs seem very meek. Is it possible the fleet autopilot problem hamstrung the AIs?

Hello, is there anyone out there?

That second game of mine was ruined due to the plague event. I say ruined because I researched the cure in 1 turn, after decommisioning about 50 ships, and the 2 remaining AIs NEVER researched the cure. They just languished. At maso, the AIs should be able to research the cure. (they had the prerequisite tech too)

It probably didn't matter, because even before that they were just sort of going through the motions.

Next time there is a decent upgrade will probably be my last.

Before you have a melt-down (the game has been improving with upgrades - including filling in gaps - hah, I did notice - except for the 1.80e098 movement bug), the fact of the 1.80e098 patch caused "fleets" to falter in their autopilot movement, did not, in fact cause the AIs to become stupid. The 1.8f patch is needed only to fix the fleet autopilot bug. The problem that looked like bad AI was the symptom that whenever an AI attempted to move a fleet more than the movement allowance of the fleet, its movement got reduced to zero - just like your own fleets. If an AI's ships cannot move, it will not matter how smart it is. The problem you were experiencing with the plague event is a completely separate issue - and one that should be reported separately. I believe the random nature of how the other AIs react to the plague event may need to be tweaked according to the AI level (but I believe this issue has always been present). If I were you, I would report that separately. I do not believe this changed due to the update. Hope that helps!

Hi!
Has the DA AI been lobotimized again?

(nitpick)
1.80e098 belongs to TotA, and not to DA.

No. It is DA. They backfilled some of the Tota code. (At least as far as i know.)

Ugh, my mistake, sorry. I havent't checked DA updates for more than a month, so I completely forgot we got some patches in between. Until a few seconds back I still thought I have DA 1.61. SDC has shown me I have 1.80c.096.
