Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

kzin6

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

If your claws can grasp it, then it is rightfully yours. - Kzinti proverb

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

Ugh, did you really have to say my name.

Um, if this is your first time using a TS, then you in for a HUGE surprise with their use on extremely huge maps like that. They move at a max speed of 1, one, uno. No starbase modules or techs or fleeting with a warp thingy will help.

I prefer not using Terror Stars, it's just cowardly and dishoerable (by my standerds). Plus they are slow as hell and are easy to destroy, seriously though, you think the programmers could have givin the Terror Star the ability to defend itself with it's beamn thingy :(

The beam thing I'm gonna agree with you, the Terror Star shouldhave the ability to defend itself with it's beam.

It is possible, but definitely more difficult. Both Neilo and I have done it vs 5 opponents.

Prehaps I should try with two on an Imense size galaxy, at the difficulty of suicidal.

I think it would be easier the smaller the galaxy is. You wouldnt have to be crossing huge areas of space to destroy the enemy, and risk them getting some fighters built. On a smaller map they would get more planets, but you would just need to build more spore ships to take them out. On smaller maps, you can spend a lot more money in a ZYW, because you are likely to be able to sell techs to multiple minor civs, and collect more anomalies.

The major difficulties with multiple opponents in a ZYW are indeed economy (you need more transports / spore ships), their total expansion is much faster (e.g. 3 AI's chucking out colony ships each at the same rate that otherwise the single AI would build them) and while you're taking out one, the others start building fighters.

I remember my very first ZYW attempts were against 3 opponents. Needless to say I usually ended up with a 1-year-win or something...

It was 5 or 6 for sure KP. And it was a killer of a game..i needed very precise techs without drifting off my path. Certainly not for the faint hearted...but IIRC i do believe Wyndstar did do a ZYW against 9 AI.
I may be wrong but i seem to recall one of his AAR's stating so.

An easy way to get the multiple opponent ZYW is to "Island Hop". Once your spore a planet you use the queued production of that planet to spit out another spore ship. Invade the next AI and repeat. It requires a bit of miniaturization and some decent engines but you can hit them pretty quick.
Obviously though, as you state Noct, a strong econ is needed but since your playing out to dec 22 you have enough time to nab the MCC and Banks.

Welcome to our newest members, Peet & Zyxpsilon! :D May the Fanged God grant you numberless victories!

I should finish my latest game this weekend, and it will be around 550 - 600k. Cant wait to see what the final score will be.

Check out this community game thread by zerodexter. It's an unusual and interesting idea. :)

Finally finished my latest game! :D

Final scores: society - 105954, tech - 52508, econ - 290725, military - 198287.

I had 4191 warships, and 501 planets.

If I extended it a bit more I could have surpassed 600k, but it was getting super-slow, and wouldnt have been worth it to go another year for a few thousand more points.

What's worth being in that area of the country? Just be lucky you'll be out before the ice storms come in. We had some guys down in Springfield for a while and getting in/out of there over winter was a PITA due to coatings of ice.

I like my winters to make up their minds. Either 70s with rain (blah) or -10s with snow, none of that borderline crap.

It's for work, I would prefer to visit other places if it was for holiday purposes :p We already figured there's not much to do or see there, but I guess it doesn't matter if you mostly see the hotel and the office.
In any case it's bound to be better weather than Moscow last year.

Good game, KP! :CONGRAT:

Mine is ready for submission at a tad over 200k. Not my best, but that's how the chips fell. I'll try again before too long.

RL is taking front burner again, but I'll submit the game when I get internet time on my secondary (Kzinti) gaming computer. It's being used for other purposes right now.

As long as it was a blizzard in Moscow, I'd rather that than a sheet of ice covering everything. They seem to be right on the edge of rain and snow, thus they get freezing rain. It took our guys 1.5 days to get to Springfield from PA via plane. One was stuck in Chicago the other thought it would be smart to avoid Chicago and went thru Houston. Neither works out well when the destination is the one coated lol.

Thanks Seth & Firenight. :) I've got a couple more games in the works, then after my new RAM arrives, I'll start doing gigantic all-abundant. I'll shoot for 900k!  :HOT:

That must be on a tiny map, right Motti. ;) Other purposes than gaming? Stop talking nonsense...

About 10 years ago in VT we had the worst ice storm I've ever seen. It hit other parts of New England, and also Quebec which in some areas had no electricity for a couple months! Mine was only out for a couple days.

I do remember one in January 97. Man that was harsh. We had 2.5-3 feet of snow on the ground already, then it rained and melted most of it away. I live in a valley town w/ a river. The opposite side of the river is a mountain (hill for those in real mountains) so the water only expands in one direction. Man that was an awesome sound when it had crested and the 2" thick ice that formed started to fall over many many acres of land.

Back in December when I was still living in Manchester there was a huge snow storm that had covered most of the areas around Manchester.
