How do I re-register?

I want to re-register my installed copy of galciv2 in my windows registry so SD central will let me update my game without me having to download 600 MB... again. I've tried deleting sig.bin and then re-registering via serial number. Didn't work.

And does this hinder my ability to submit a metaverse game?

Thanks.

Try using regedit. The relavant key is HKLM\Software\Stardock\Drengin.net\GC2
The string values in that key should be:
"Exe", the executable that is run when choosing run application is SDCentral
"Path", the path to the installed game directory
"Type", must be "Beta" or "Production"
"Updated", when have you last updated the game. Format is M/D/YY
"Version", the currently installed version.

Only Path is truly important, I think. "Version" must be less than current version to get the update option. "Exe" might be checked too.
For Darkavatar it is "DarkAvatar" instead of GC2.

Only ComponentManager and Object Desktop is there. Drengin.net is not present.

By HKLM I think you mean HK_Local_machine.

My game runs fine. I just want to update via Stardock Central. Help please.

Ok here is how I re-created the galciv2 key. Its still showing up as not installed. I don't know whats wrong. Maybe you can tell me.

I took the liberty of censoring my serial number.

You put it under Component Manager. It should just be under Stardock.

The registry entries were a bit different too. It seems I made a small mistake in posting the previous instructions, so here is the full data exported from my registry. This is definitely correct. Just edit the path to match your installation directory, save it to galciv.reg in notepad or something and double-click the resulting file to import it.
That way nothing can go wrong.
Remember to set the version numbers to the correct numbers too, otherwise you still cannot update since SDCentral thinks you are up to date, as I am.
If you don't know the version numbers, just enter something low. It is only used to check whether you are up to date, and for nothing else.
Also, modules you haven't installed should of course be removed from the file. Doing it this way should be easier and faster than using regedit.
Lastly, remember to use the double back-slashes when entering the installation path in the file.
