I have started creating ships based on trek... Its slow going as there arent very many flexible parts for creating custom shapes and such. We need to start creating more custom parts for the ship builder.... saucers cylindrical shapes ect... granted a LOT can be done with what is already there as evident by the rough trek ship ive already created. I just think we need more standard geometric shapes... Thoughts anyone?? Also, it would be cool to add more designs to the ships, ie logos, lettering etc.

I used the dish upside down on both sides to close in the open saucer area. Crude but it worked with the parts available.

Very nice designs!!!! I believe if more people will create ship parts, the devs will include them in future upgrades.

This ship builder has really fueled my creative juices... I need more control over the hardpoints so i can use less connecting scaffolding and connecting parts. Perhaps that hardpoint fix that is in the downloads section.

It is possible to create said "trek" ship but you have to scale eerything down and think of each peice as one in a million of peices you have to lay down. So it would take forever praticly

yes, i have been having trouble with scaling issues due to not being able to lay ships side by side... the ships i have been creating do not scale well against each other. More geometric shapes to use as parts would help to create the designs i am attempting. I will put together another trek ship this evening to illustrate that it CAN be done and more polished than my first attempts.

The modding wiki site says that you can use 3d studio max... i know a number of games that use 3d studio max in their modding... could these models be transfered over? its just a question of stats for addons and hardpoints and maybe textures, as far as i know the models should be easily transfered from other games.

I notice you are using the small triangular hull. If you open up a BOG game you will have access to the medium hull which is a more perfect saucer shape. It might also help your scaling problem.
Very nice work.

FYI, if you use my mod ( http://library.galciv2.com/index.aspx?m=22 ) you can build ships completely from jewelry, or use any hull model as any size (i.e., use a medium hull model as a small or cargo), and couple hulls upon other hulls as jewelry.

Forgive me Kryo, I should have thanked you right off the bat.. I would never have been able to create that pseudo "constitution" class without your mod as i was unable to find an appropriate engineering hull with a pylon extending up for the saucer. That is just a rough one anyway... your mod will allow me to make some really nice designs once i have a chance to spend some more time creating ships.
Cheers! and thanks for the impressive mod!

I had that same question, i didnt see any hardpoits on the innerside of the dish, so i was wondering how yuo could do that
perhaps pylons on either side supporting the dish..?? Ill try when i get home.

we also need more hulls. it would be really cool if an expansion would give us like 10 new hulls for each size.

You can flip hardpoints to make them face the opposite direction.

I would like to be able to turn hardpoints 45 degrees as well.
