Cannot install Movies, Multimedia and Tutorials...

Hi!

I downloaded the game without the Movies, Multimedia and Tutorials. It worked, so I was satisfied and waited for downloading the rest.

Now I dont get an Install option for the above mentioned parts (in SDC). I managed to "Downoad and Archive" it, but I cannot install... Restore archive doesnt do jack, as I browse and try to open the .sdc files.

Well, there should be a small 'x' in SDC on the same line that GC 2. Try to expand it

Peace Phoenix: Thanks. I'm not that stupid, though...

For some reason, the movies, multimedia and tutorials show up as "installed"?? They are not, I assure you. I clicked on "uninstall" and got an "unistall error- do you want to set the files as unistalled?". I did, and now I can install. However....
Now, I try to "restore archives" of the archived .sdc movie and multimedia files (cause I obviously dont want to download again), but nothing happens... How do I force the damn thing to install from disk, not form the net?

Well, I am sorry but I can't help you. I suppose that you have the latest version.

Why did you "download and archive" and not "install" directly?

Cause I didnt have the Install option. SDC somehow thought I already have it installed (!?)

your archive files might be corrupt.. you may need to remove everything from the temp stardock directory and download/install again.... altho that would be a bit of a drag (especially if it still doesn't work afterwards)

what are the odds that all 3 (movies, multimedia and tutorials) files are corrupt?

This actually raises another issue. How the hell am I to install the game from the archived files once I change my PC/format my drive?

I had a similar issue -- I would get an error about my serial number when I tried updating my multimedia from the Beta versions in Stardock (even though GalCiv II updated to retail just fine). I merely uninstalled the multimedia files from the Stardock menu, and re-downloaded them.

Uninstall your extra folders, get rid of whatever archives you made of them, and re-download from scratch.

Now, that would suck big time. I have already downloaded everything. I dont want to download it again...

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll wait for someone from Stardock to give me an answer before dl-ing everything again, though...
