Ever want to use a Dreadlord Hull, or some other race's hull as your own, or even just a different hull than the size you picked allows? Now you can! KHSM adds a 'blank' hull of each size (simply a hardpoint and nothing else), and makes ALL ship hulls in the game into jewelry. So now you can have any hull design you like, add hulls upon hulls as jewelry, or even create a ship ENTIRELY out of jewelry with no hull at all!

READ THE INCLUDED README BEFORE USING!

It's a great idea Kryo and I'm trying to work with it, but I think I overlooked something in the readme. I think I followed all the directions and I selected a Yor cargo ship as the Terrans. However, when I came to the map, the ship came up as a blank. I'm sure I'm overlooking something simple, but...

I haven't tried this yet. But I will. Thanks for the effort Kryo.

I'm not sure what to tell you, it works fine for me. Using a Yor Cargo hull as anyone is as simple as choosing the 'blank cargo' hull as your hull, then browsing the the 'other' tab in the Extras and picking a Yor hull, then attaching it to the lone hardpoint floating in the viewport. I just tried it as Terrans with both Yor cargo hulls.

I can see the ship design fine in the shipyard, but the ship jewelry doesn't appear on the main map after I build it from my shipyards. I tried reinstalling, but it still doesn't work. I tried this with blank cargo ship and blank huge ship with Terran, Yor, and Torian cargo ship designs.

Post some screenshots if you can of the ship in the shipyard (In design view, so I can see what components you put on it), and on the map, so I can see what exactly you mean. You can upload them at http://www.imageshack.us if you have nowhere else.

If you can't do that, find the .shipcfg and .class file named after your ship in My Documents/My Games/GalCiv2/Ships, zip them up and email them to kryo at thegalacticcore.com (replace 'at' with @, i type it like that so spambots dont get it).

Well Done Kryo... I am having a blast... one possible suggestion put all the hulls in their own tab (alt least those not of your race) and leave the generic and other as orginal... This would jsut make sifting through the lists easier LOL... me i go up and down those list sevral times per ship heh heh...

All in all hats of to you this is what the ship design should have been like from get go..

You'd have to ask the devs for that (perhaps a 'mods' tab?), as I don't know of any way for it to be modified in the files. (FYI, the only way to change which tab it is on that I see is by changing the prefix on the model file itself... S0 marks it as terran, and so on, and S99 marks it as generic. Anything below 99 that's not your style goes on the other tab)

Kryo, I sent you the e-mail you requested. Your mod sounds awesome, I wish it would work for me. I'm going to try and reset the folder and work from back ups.

Kryo, I'm having the same problem as shabbit is. The shipyard is fine, but the ships don't actually exist in the map view. Worse, I just checked combat out, and the neither the ship nor the fire from the ship appeared there, either. Gotta hit the sack now, but hopefully you can pin this down, because it's an excellent idea.

I've managed to reproduce the problem on another machine--it seems some systems don't like the 'blank' models. I'm working on a new version now that will work with those while still being invisible itself (but not making the entire ship disappear!).

Updated version uploaded that should fix things for people that were having invisible ships. Let me know how it works out; just overwrite the current files with the new ones. Thumbnails are also included for the blank hulls now (copy them to Gfx/Thumbnails). If you're just updating from an older version you do not need to rerun the batch file, just update the other files and you're set.

I installed it and had a play around and want to say that it's a fantastic idea Kryo and well implemented even if the tabs are a bit of a pain. My question is though: How do I uninstall it? At present, I have only played with Humans and Yor extensively so I dont want to spoil myself for choices too early.... if you see what I mean? Once I've played all the races enough to know all the hulls and design layouts, I will definitely reinstall this addition, but for now, I want vanilla back! How do I go about doing it? Cheers.

If you don't mind the clutter in your models folder, simply restore your old GC2Types.xml file (the readme did say to back it up first...). The other files won't have any effect without that modded xml file.

Great cheers! .....

So I can just keep the modified version of the GC2Types.xml backed up then rename it when I want it back again? Cool! Thanks Kryo - great mod!

Meta games don't use the same data folder, so unless you specifically try overwriting the GC2Types.xml in the MetaverseData folder as well, it simply won't affect MV games at all.

FYI, I've tried it myself and the games seemed to submit without incident, but obviously I cannot make any warranties about whether it will work for anyone else or in the future since the metaverse is supposed to be completely unmodded.

Excellent stuff, it works fine now. And the expansive and addictive ship builder just became significantly moreso. What have you done? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!

(Kudos, though. )
