Your Stardock.net account is used here by the forums, in Stardock Central, on other Stardock sites, and also to manage your Metaverse characters.  "One account to rule them all."

Your account can have up to THREE characters tied to it.  Most people will have only 1 but this way, if you have multiple people in your family playing the game (my son plays for instance) they can use a character.

If you've already pre-loaded, you should be able to go to the Metaverse and Manager Characters.  You will need your serial # to create another character.

If you have any problems, let us know.

People - Please provide us with some data on where the error(s) you are seeing are ocurring. A URL or page description would be very helpful. If you do not include information then we have no way of helping you.

The metaverse was designed to work with IE and Firefox. We're doing our best to get it to work with Opera's quirks as well.

Additionally, please avoid 'same here' responses. Responding in that fashion makes it very difficult to decipher exactly what you may be confirming.

Ask and ye shall receive. I'm running Firefox 1.0.7 over Redhat EL 3. After logging in, I click the Add Player button here: http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=managecharacters

Enter a character name, and the serial number Stardock support told me to use this morning (so I know it's valid). Then click the Add Character button. A window appears which says "Processing Data...". Nothing more.

Here's a screenshot:

Hope this helps.

Edit: Thought I better mention I'm running Linux, although I don't believe this is a Linux issue, as others here are experiencing the same problem.

Well there's no way that I'm going to be debugging a browser issue while you're running the browser on an OS that the game doesnt even support. That's just crazy talk.

I haven't yet seen anyone report 'Processing Data' issues with firefox; The reports I see here in this thread are for Opera.

Thanks for the extended information; your post is a good model for everyone to follow.

*sheepish look* Sorry!

I'm having almost the same problem as Veteran Stevious, running Opera 8.5.1 on Win98.

I go to:

http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=managecharacters

I click on: Add Player and get this screenshot:

http://miscfile.alienharmony.com/metaverse1.png

I then add in my character information and serial number, click Add Character, and get this:

http://miscfile.alienharmony.com/metaverse2.png

And nothing else happens.

I know it is not my serial number that is the problem because I had no problems setting up a character using IE6.

Peace & Luv, Liz

We're looking into the issues with Opera. However, it appears to be a built-in security issue with Opera. (Looking into the Javascript Console in Opera will reveal the exact error if you're curious)

We are officially supporting IE and Firefox at the moment. Please use IE or Firefox for the metaverse.

If you were having metaverse issues; whereby the 'Edit My Characters' page was showing you characters that did not belong to your account, please close your browser, open the metaverse and check out that page again

Avatar andrew_, if you don't want to troubleshoot the issue because I'm running Linux, that is fine. However, the fact that the game won't run in Linux is irrelevant, is it not?. I'm trying to create my Metaverse character at work. I'm planning on playing the game on a Windows box at home. Besides, others have reported the same problem. Please see Jeysie and Asharak's posts above.

mayito8888 - As I said before in another thread, that was addressed. You'll have to wait for the udpate which fixes that. Please start a new thread in the Council to get further information.

Stevious - I don't find the fact that you're running a browser on an OS the game does not run on irrelevent at all. The two names you referenced were also experiencing issues with Opera, not Firefox. Until a decision is made otherwise, we will not be addressing site issues experienced on other operating systems other than Windows. If you can reproduce the issue on Windows we will be happy to take a look.

Todd Hawks - Please make sure you have updated Firefox to the latest version and let me know if you are still experiencing the Processing Data... screen freeze.

Thanks for the continued participation guys, this should help to get the MV rock solid.

Without noticing that I wasn't "me", I created an empire, and now I no longer belong to said empire, nor am I the official creator. I immediately dropped a note to support@stardock.com. It's Empire #54, in case you need that information.

Well you certainly don't own Empire #54, which is the 'Pirates of the Forgotten Butte' - However, you do own Empire #53 'Player2Player' http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=empire&id=53

Let's get some more information from you on exactly what happened, exactly step by step what you did and what you saw.

Without noticing that I wasn't "me"

We're not mind readers, we need to know exactly what you mean by this. Vague statements do not help!

Thanks for replying.

If you noticed my quoted message, I was experiencing the issue you were referencing: "whereby the 'Edit My Characters' page was showing you characters that did not belong to your account,". My character list was showing me characters that weren't mine. I created Empire #54, and when I looked at the completed result, it showed someone else as the owner.

Here's how it all went down:
1. Created an empire (id 53)
2. Decided I didn't like my name, went to the profile screen to change it.
3. Successfully changed my name.
4. Returned to find my empire "gone".
5. Created a new empire (id 54). Much more satisfied with the name, but understand if you want me to change it.
6. Noticed that I wasn't the official creator, and that some guy's character was listed in my character listing.
7. Closed my browser, opened a new browser, logged in, and now I'm back to the first empire (id 53), but only on Firefox.

I've appended this information to Ticket #TLW-170827, where I had an earlier issue regarding the merging of 2 accounts. I believe the metaverse registration may be snowed because of this.

It very well could be. We'll take an in depth look at the registration issue possibility. That's exactly the kind of extended information I was looking for

Are you mystic000 and Thanaptosis (one in the same)? Im getting befuddled!

FYI...I ran into the same "Processing Data" issue with Firefox 1.5.0.1 on Windows XP SP2. IE6 worked fine for me.

Mystic,

Since you seem to have multiple accounts we need to know exactly which Stardock.net accounts are yours and what character names are yours?

ie: you appear to have the Stardock.net accounts of "mystic000" and "Thanaptosis".  Do you have any other stardock.net accounts.

Also, you say you see other characters under your empire.  What Empire (Name?) and what Character(Name?)

Rik Flor - We've been unable to reproduce the Processing Data... freeze with Firefox 1.5.0.1. However, I'll keep a close eye on it. Thanks for letting us know.

Nope. It was reported to me this morning that those accounts should be merged, now.

I don't, now. As I mentioned, above, I followed the instructions to alleviate that issue, and much to my dismay, lost the empire (ID 54) that I wanted.

Andrew, even though you refused to help me because you hate Linux (just kidding) I just wanted you to know that upgrading Firefox from 1.0.7 to 1.5.0.1 fixed the problem.

I appreciate your help today. We love you, man!!!

Mystic,  I have no idea what happend in regards to this.  Empire ID 54, Pirates Of The Forgotton Blue (http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=empire&id=54), belongs to another user (Soulfire777).

You already have an empire, "Player2Player" http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=empire&id=53, so you should be all set. I don't think there is anything I can do here.
